8-MCP corporate rollout — analytics, ticketing, docs vector, codebase vector
Problem solved: Non-engineers can't safely query company data; a corporate rollout of 8 internal MCPs over analytics + ticketing + vector-indexed docs and codebase, fronted by corp SSO, halves L2 support load and lets commercial staff one-shot reports that previously took an hour.
What
Stand up 8+ internal MCPs against the analytics replica, ticketing system, escalation tracker, and vector indexes over the docs corpus + the monolith codebase. Authenticate users via corporate Google SSO. Drop the MCPs into Claude Cowork (or Claude Code) as one-click connectors. Post in Slack: "now you can do X with Y MCP." Adoption spreads virally.
Why it matters
Reported outcome at one mid-sized org: L2 support load nearly halved; commercial staff one-shot cross-cut reports that previously took an hour. The key design rule from the same operator: "a good MCP streams instructions, not just raw API" — quality of MCP description and embedded domain knowledge matters more than skills layered on top.
End-to-end
- Pick the 8 data sources non-eng staff actually need. The reference set: analytics replica (e.g. Microsoft Fabric), Intercom (tickets), Jira (escalations), Qdrant vector over the docs corpus, Qdrant vector over the monolith codebase, plus 3 more per your stack.
- For each MCP, embed domain knowledge. Not just API wrappers — include glossary, architecture notes, sample query patterns. This is what makes them safe for non-engineers.
- Authenticate via corporate Google SSO. Zero token wrangling for end users.
- Drop the MCPs into Cowork (or Claude Code) as one-click connectors. Self-onboarding in minutes.
- Vectorize the legacy monolith codebase (Qdrant) and wrap it as an MCP. Front-end devs can now ask back-end questions; agents grep + vector-search the codebase together.
- Announce in Slack per MCP. "Now you can do X with Y MCP" posts drive viral spread; let curiosity do the rollout work.
- Onboard 2nd-line ticket vector last and let the agent pre-triage + draft Jira escalations.
Gotchas
- MCP description quality is load-bearing. Multiple operators learned the hard way that wrapping an API as an MCP without embedding glossary + sample queries leaves non-eng users stuck. Skills layered on top can't compensate. Front-load 1-2 days per MCP on writing good "streaming instructions" — the MCP's own self-description — before you ship it to the org.
Tools
- An analytics replica (Microsoft Fabric or equivalent)
- Intercom, Jira (or your team's equivalents)
- Qdrant (or pgvector / Pinecone) over docs and monolith codebase
- Claude Cowork (or Claude Code) with corporate Google SSO
